Barbara Nowinski died in Rosendale, WI, at age 73 on December 24, 2022. Barbara was born on July 27, 1949 in Ripon the first born child to Joseph and Marion (Olsheski) Nowinski. She was soon followed by brother, David and sister, Janice. Barbara graduated from Ripon Senior High School in 1967 with highest honors and completed high school without missing a single day of school. She attended Mercy Nursing School in Oshkosh and qualified as an RN in 1970. Barbara was an excellent nurse who was loved by her patients. She cared deeply about her patients and ensured that they received the best care. Barbara first worked at Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh and then Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, and taking classes when she was healthy. She loved teaching Bible School at church.

Barb started exhibiting signs of Multiple Sclerosis in her 30s and subsequently moved back to Ripon in her 40s as her symptoms worsened. Eventually, due to the physical limitations imposed by MS, Barbara moved to Assisted Living at Tower View Villa. The staff became her second family for over 11 years and cared for her with love and compassion. Barb’s mind remained sharp and she loved reading and watching her beloved Packers. Barb’s niece and nephew brought her great joy and she loved visits from children and pets. Barbara was diagnosed with fast moving cancer in November which finally ended her life. Barb was a life-long member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and her faith helped her endure the pain of MS.

Barb is predeceased by her father, mother, and sister-in-law, Debbie Nowinski. Barbara is survived by her brother, David of Black River Falls, WI, and sister, Janice Sutphin of Menlo Park, CA. She is also survived by her niece, Nicole (Gopi) of Waukee, IA, and nephew, John (Sara) of Belmont Michigan. She is also survived by her cousins, Diane Nowinski of Ripon, Deb Krinke of Green Bay, WI, and Matt Krinke of Mukwonego, WI.

The family would like to thank Tower View Villa and all of its staff for their years of tender care, especially Barb Sullivan. A special thanks goes to Dr. Gauthier, Barb’s physician for decades who helped through the various debilitating stages of MS, and Generations Hospice, who supported Barb at the end of her life. We are comforted knowing that Barb is finally free of pain.

Visitation for Barbara will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Church at 11:00 am, with Rev. Robert A. Fictum officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon, WI, in the spring.
