Karen D. Toney, age 61, of Berlin, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, WI. Karen was born in Oshkosh on November 28, 1961, daughter of Dennis and Patricia (Hansen) Schaetzka. After graduating from high school she went on to Moraine Park Technical College to further her education. Karen worked as a clerk at the Post Office in Oshkosh for many years. She loved her dogs and cherished time with “the boys,” Bryce, Grayson and Liam. Karen is survived by her sister, Sandra Rogge of Oshkosh, WI; brother, Steven (Deborah) Schaetzka of Brandon, WI; step-children, Nicholas (special friend, Amanda) Toney of Berlin, WI and Sarah (Dan) Kuhnz of Beaver Dam, WI; grandchildren, Bryce, Grayson, Liam, Hadley, Hayden, Dawson, and Leelah; and nieces and nephews, Andy Rogge, Angela Henriksen, Megan Hafeman, Loren and Jacob Schaetzka, and Amy Lucia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Toney; and her parents, Dennis and Patricia Schaetzka. A private family Celebration of Life for Karen will be held at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Rev. Donald Deike officiating. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Berlin, WI, in the spring. A memorial is being established in her name. Karen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her neighbor and friend, Teena, for everything she’s done for Karen over the years to help. Also, thanks to the entire staff of Eden Meadows in Oshkosh and her nurses at Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, especially Dawn, for their loving care of Karen.
