Diane M. Suemnicht, age 78, of Oshkosh, WI (formerly of Cascade, WI), passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at her home in Oshkosh. Diane was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 11, 1944 to Howard and Norma (Schnell) Phinney. She grew up on Big Green Lake before moving to Ripon, where she graduated high school. Diane was married to Thomas Rank for 18 years and they had 2 children, James Thomas Rank and Cari Lyn (Rank) Wittchow. Diane sold Beeline Fashion for many years and later worked at Ripon Memorial Hospital in the billing department. In 1987 she married Gary Suemnicht and moved to Cascade, WI, where she resided for 34 years. Diane and Gary owned D-N-D’s Country Tap in Dundee, WI until her retirement. After Gary passed in 2019, Diane moved to Oshkosh to be closer to her children. Diane loved gardening and appreciated a full, beautiful yard of mother nature’s wonders. She also enjoyed watching the river, doing word searches and taking trips. She had a special place in her heart for her cat “Tutz”. Most of all, Diane loved spending time with her family. Family get together with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were at the top of her list. She will always be remembered for being sassy, feisty and a HOOT of a woman. She will be greatly missed! Diane is survived by her son James Rank of Brandon, WI; her daughter Cari (special friend Joe) Wittchow of Omro, WI; 4 stepchildren: Ginger, Nick, Jacci & Luke; grandchildren: Amanda (Chad) Wagner, Mikena Jordan, Joshua Rank and Danielle (fiancé Brian Workman) Rank; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fran Phinney; and niece, Heather (Jeff) Holtz. She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Suemnicht, her parents and brother Robert Phinney. A visitation for Diane will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 509 Milwaukee Ave., Cascade, WI. A memorial service for Diane will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 20, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade, WI, with Rev. Richard Bidinger officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial is being established in her name.
