Del (Adelbert) Formiller died on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 2008 at the age of 90.
He was born in Fisk, Wisconsin on March 15, 1918, to Mary and Peter Formiller. When he was a very young boy, he and his family moved to Green Lake, where he grew up on Illinois Avenue & attended Green Lake High School with his 3 brothers, Jerome, Art, Eddie, and sister, Mildred. In 1941, while listening to a radio broadcast with several of his boyhood pals, he learned that Pearl Harbor had been attacked. Right then and there he decided to join the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. On August 23, 1947, Del married June Ann Reichenbach. They had five daughters, Holly Welk, Beth Formiller, Mary Elbert, Nancy McLaughlin, and Jo Formiller. As the years passed, Del became a grandfather to Eve, Morgan, Joseph, Michael, Andrew, Martin, and a great grandfather to Julia. For most of his working life, Del owned and operated a small family resort, Holiday House, on the south side of Green Lake. After retiring, he spent many hours cruising around the lake on his pontoon boat looking for the best fishing hole of the day.
Last summer, on bright and sunny days, you may have seen Del riding his motorized scooter down to Nortons landing to survey the lake and chat with passersby. He loved Green Lake and his roots there were deep.
The family plans to have a private memorial gathering next summer aboard the family Chris Craft on Green Lake
the place Del loved and called home.
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, is assisting the family.
