Alan John Kennedy, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Alan was born July 4, 1931, in Ripon, the son of William Laghlan and Frieda Lucielle (Weckworth) Kennedy. He graduated from Ripon High School and went on to serve our country in the United States Navy from April 1952 - March 1956 and was trained to work as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. On June 26, 1952, Alan married Frances Joan Jaworski in Ripon at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He worked hard his whole life and took pride in owning and operating his own farm. He loved to hunt and fish; play cards; dine out; and tell stories over coffee with friends. Alan was a member of the American Legion; Our Saviors United Church of Christ; and Flashlight Farmers of America.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Joan Kennedy, Ripon, WI; children, Deb (Tom) Van Derslice, Appleton, WI, Sherry (Jim) McCabe, Princeton, WI, Jane (Chris) Shaw, Appleton, WI, John (Kathy) Kennedy, Neenah, WI, and Sue (Bob) Kennedy-Kallio, Ripon, WI; eleven grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel), Michelle (Kurt), Ann (Daniel), Aaron (Jenny), Brittany, Meghann (Alex), Josslyn, Alexander, Kelly (Jesse), Thomas, and Erika (Rob); fourteen great grandchildren, Bergin, Ayden, Zachary, Nora, Tula Blu, Vera, Phoebe, Taylor, Logan, Dixee, Bradly, Allyssa, Mason Alan, and Dominic John; sister, Marian Novitske; two nieces, Kathy and Patti Novitske; two nephews, Mike and Steve Novitske; his faithful canine companion, Tootsie; and numerous relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frieda Kennedy; infant brother, David; and an infant great granddaughter, Aryanna Schmitt.
Visitation for Alan Kennedy will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Our Saviors United Church of Christ, 343 Scott Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Alan Kennedy will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 7:00 pm at Our Saviors United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Gary Miller and Jerry Schrankler will officiate. Full military honors to follow. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 375 Bishops Way #220, Brookfield, WI 53005.
