Alan “Al” Dale Williams, age 84, of Green Lake, WI, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 3, 2016, at his home in Green Lake surrounded by his family.
Alan was born on July 5, 1931, the son of Robert and Alma (Mildebrant) Williams. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1950 and went on to serve our country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. On September 29, 1956, Alan married Shirley Herter in Green Lake. Alan was a prison guard in Waupun, WI from 1954 to 1958, worked at Ripon Foods from 1967 to 1977, retired as a truck driver for Badger Mining in 1995 and continued to work there until his full retirement in 2014. He was a member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Lake as well as the Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Shirley Williams of Green Lake, WI; his daughters, Carol Williams of Casa Grande, AZ, and Lee Ann Grahn of Green Lake, WI; his granddaughter, Kellie (Nathaniel) Covert; his great granddaughter, Mackenzie Covert; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Robert; his brother, Richard Williams; his sister, Beverly Schroeder; infant brother; and mother and father-in-law, Anna and Peter Herter.
A private family memorial service for Alan Williams will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971. Pastor Rodney E. Dietsche will officiate, with Full Military Honors to follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
