Alden Roy Waters, age 69 of Green Lake, died Thursday evening, May 29, 1997, at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh.
He was born March 25, 1928, in Ripon, the son of the late Roy John and Eva Marie (Gneiser) Waters. He married JoAnne Margaret Weiske on June 30, 1956, in Princeton.
Alden lived in Green Lake most of his life. He was employed at Speed Queen in Ripon for 39 years until his retirement in 1990. Co-workers knew him as Curly. He was a member of the Retirees Club of Speed Queen and the Steel Workers Union #1327. Earlier employment included working along with Louis Gneiser and Sons hauling milk, as well as at the Brooklyn Creamery. Alden served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950, and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He often reflected on this unique time in his life with his family. Alden was a kind and gentle man who had interests in gardening and reading. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
Alden is survived by his wife, JoAnne; one daughter, Patricia (Alec) Linde of Stevens Point; three sons, Thomas of Green Lake, Richard (Lori) of Neenah, and Joseph of Shawano; one sister, Luella (Arden) Golz of Princeton; and one brother, Norman (Apryl) of Juneau, WI. Alden is also survived by three grandchildren, Erik, Elliot, and Alison Linde; as well as nieces at the funeral home.
A Prayer Service will be held Monday, June 2, 1997, at 11 AM at the
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Father John R. Dowd officiating. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A Memorial has been established., nephews, other relatives, and friends. Alden is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd and Vernon.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 1997, from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home and again on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service
