Alfred August Alf, 78, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday evening, September 8, 2001, at Juliette Manor in Berlin.

Alfred was born on October 21,1922, in Berlin, the son of Lydia (Lichtenberg) and Edward Alf. He married Margaret Bloch on November 17, 1945, in Green Lake and they farmed in the Berlin area for 30 years. They moved to Ripon in 1974. Alfred was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Ripon.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Ripon; Children, Theo (Pete) Knigge of Omro, Dennis (Mary) of St. Charles, IL. Tom (Nancy) of Ripon, and Curtis of Tuscon, AZ. Twelve grandchildren, Krista, Charlie, Megan, Mary, Michael, Steven, Shannon, Jenny, Lynsey, Brian, Erin, and Alexandra. He is also survived by three sisters; Lillian Beiger, Esther Braun, and Irene (Dick) Werch. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Alice, a brother Clifford and an infant brother.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2001 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, at Messiah Lutheran church, Ripon. Rev. Bryan Fritsch will officiate. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Hope/Central WI Branch, Berlin, WI. or Messiah Lutheran Church, Ripon.
