Alfred Emil Grams, 95, of 80 Tabbert Ave., Ripon, died Monday evening, October 31, 2005, at Fountain View Care Center, Ripon.
Alfred was born June 9, 1910, in the township of Berlin, the son of Herman and Elsie (Abel) Grams. He was educated in the Berlin and Rush Lake Public Schools. He ran a rural delivery bakery route for Blakes Bakery for 9 years and worked at Speed Queen. He ran a City Service Filling Station for Ned Fletcher. In 1942, he started farming in Rush Lake and retired in 1979, and moved into Ripon. Alfred was married to Dorothy Huth on February 24, 1934. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Grams; grandchildren, Terry (Lynn) Mathias of Ripon, Tom (Jackie) Grams and Judy (Dave) Bryden, both of Green Lake, and Mike Grams of Berlin; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents; 1 son, Arlyn Grams; 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 grandson and 1 great-granddaughter.
Funeral service for Alfred E. Grams will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2005, a Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon. The Rev. Alan F. Schaffmeyer will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Friday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
