Alma Nitz

Alma Dora Nitz, age 90, died June 2, 2002, at her home at Silver Creek Manor, Ripon.

She was born February 15, 1912, a daughter to Herman and Emma (Kobernik) Griese. Alma was raised on a farm until she moved to Ripon where she received her education. She worked at Ripon Hospital and the nursing home in Berlin. Mrs. Nitz was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Ruth Circle. Her hobbies included baking special cakes, gardening, helping shut-ins, enjoying birds and get-togethers with family and friends. On June 5, 1965, she married William Nitz, and he passed away on October 10, 1977.

Alma was the dear step-mother of Ruth (Jim) Segal of Waukesha, Jean (Harry) Rodgers of Redgranite, and Melvin (Wendy) Nitz of Lakeside, CA. Loving step-grandchildren, Dennis (Tina) Zellmer, Jim (Kelly) Zellmer, John (Debbie) Zellmer, Bill Zellmer, Beth (Perry) Wegener, Pat (Renee) Rodgers, Ann, Corinne & Jack Segal and the late Rick Zellmer. Dearest great-grandchildren, Casey, Samantha, Elizabeth, Tony, Sarah, Zoe, Tammy, Ray, Ryan, Joshua, Dawn, Dana, Jesse, Jason, Jake, Damion & Kristan, and Steve & Becky, all who made a full, happy and active life for Alma when her life with Bill Nitz started in 1965. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and 1 sister.

Funeral service for Alma D. Nitz will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2002, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Memorials can be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon or Silver Creek Manor in Ripon.

A special thank you to all family, friends, and Silver Creek employees who helped and visited her in her last many months of illness.
