Alpha M. Doers, age 87, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Ripon, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Fort Myers.
Alpha was born in Draper, WI, on April 8, 1922, the first daughter of Charles and Hazel (Hubbell) Seng. She graduated from Draper High School and attended Teachers College in Ladysmith. On February 14, 1942, she married John Doers in Milwaukee, WI.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge and volunteered at Ripon Medical Center and for the Ripon United Fund.
One of the great joys of her life was to play piano for various groups. She had the gift of being able to play all music by ear. Alpha was an avid gardener and enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was a talented artist.
Survivors include her daughters, Ginny (Scott McLean) Doers, Kate (Lee) Baird, Ellen (Dusty) Webb and Janet (Al Apel, special friend) Padlock; grandchildren, Danielle, Erika, Lee, Katherine, Chris, Cinamin, Cass, Derrick, John and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Allie, Aysha, Jake, Angel, Justin, Tanner, Brendan, Dayton, Addy, Melica, Madisyn, Hunter and Casey. She is also survived by her brother, Amos and sister Verna. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Doers on August 4, 2007; son, John; granddaughter, Jackie, a brother, Warren and a sister, Lucille.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, 11:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. The Reverend Maurice Schaus will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to Tice Methodist Church in Fort Myers or Ripon Community Food and Thrift Store.
