Alpha Mcginnis

Alpha McGinnis, age 95, formerly of Ripon, died Thursday evening, August 23, 2001, in Madison where she had lived the past several years.
She was born December 14, 1905, in Blanchardville, a daughter of Dr. Archibald and Jessie (Monteith) McKellar. After graduating from high school, she was educated at Milwaukee Downer College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A good share of her life was spent teaching 4th grade in primary schools. On February 26, 1938, she married George E. McGinnis. Mrs. McGinnis was a past member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon and the Ripon Educational Club. Several years after her husband’s death on April 23, 1991, she moved to Madison.
Survivors include her daughter, Catha rifle Smith of Cold Spring Harbor, NY; one son, Patrick McGinnis of Acton, MA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A family graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2001, at Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon with Father Robert J.C. Brown officiating. Memorials may be given to Village of Blanchardville/McKellar Park, P0 Box 9, Blanchardville, WI 53516
