Alta Bruins Karel, age 94, formerly of Ripon, died Tuesday evening, November 21, 2000, at the Markesan Resident Home.
She was born March 5, 1906, in Brandon, a daughter to Henry A. and Augusta (Spitzer) Bruins. She graduated from Brandon High School, and on September 5, 1929, she married Dr. Leonard Karel in Brandon. Mrs. Karel was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, Waupun Chapter No. 144 O.E.S., Ripon Women’s Club, and Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy (Warren) Lamm of Madison; son, Larry Karel of Brandon; grandchildren, Daniel (Ruth) Lamm and Lynne Lamm of Madison; great-grandson, Joshua Lamm of Madison; 2 nieces, Karol Ann Bergstedt of Indianapolis, IN and Sandra (Dennis) Gibson of
Apple Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dr. Leonard Karel, grandson, Peter Lamm, and brothers, Arnold Bruins, Martin Bruins and Harry Bruins.
Funeral service for Alta B. Karel will be Monday, November 27,
2000, at 11 a.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Pastor Rebecca Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Memorials to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ.-
