Alvin Whiting

Alvin Norman Whiting, 84, 550 Lyon St. in Ripon, WI, died Thursday, November 1, 1990, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.

He was born September 2, 1906, in the Town of St. Marie, Green Lake County, a son of Orley and Mary Pratt Whiting. On September 1, 1934, he married Iva Whitney in Ripon. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1990.

Mr. Whiting spent his early childhood in South Dakota and following a stint in the National Guard, spent most of his married life in the Ripon area. He worked in the tool room at Speed Queen as a tool sharpener for 30 years. He was a past Union President at Speed Queen and was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Lois Ketcham of Canistota, SD and Myra (Walter) Whitney of Ripon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One brother, Mason Whiting preceded him in death.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 until 8 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Services for Mr. Whiting will be held at 1 pm Monday at the funeral home with the Reverend Robert LeCount officiating. Interment will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.
