Arlene S. Carley, age 65, of Ripon, passed away on Monday, September 13, 1993, at her home.

She was born on October 9, 1927, in Ripon, the daughter of Sylvester “Porky” and Ida (Heller) Splitt. She was educated in Ripon and was a dental assistant for her husband Dr. Richard Carley, until his retirement. While he was in dental school, she worked as a secretary to help in his education. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ripon and Tuscumbia where she had been a former golf club champion.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Jeff Carley and his wife Pat of Frederic, WI and Ted Carley and his wife Loraine of Ripon; two daughters, Chris Ann Adams of St. Louis, MO and Caryl Ann Doberstein and her husband Scott of Decatur, IL; and four grandchildren, Toby and Joy Carley of Frederic, Cassie Carley of Ripon and Kylie Doberstein of Decatur. She is also survived by one sister, Barbara (Harold) Meyer of Brandon; one brother, Orville (Joyce) Splitt of Florida, Shirley (Steve) Adams, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Danielle.

Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Reverend John A. Schmitz will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to the ALS Association, Wisconsin Southern Branch.
