Arnold E. Lieske, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Ripon on Thursday, April 26, 2001.
Arnold was born May 15, 1911, at Princeton, the son of Henry and Elsie (Woehlke) Lieske. Arnold grew up in Princeton and Ripon. He married Helen Eggleston on April 27, 1932, in Ripon. Helen and Arnold farmed various farms around Ripon before moving to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1948, where they purchased a ranch raising cattle and grain. In 1964, they moved to Denver where they lived until 1974, when they moved back to Ripon. Arnold loved a challenge and he faced many in his 89 years. The latest was his health which failed for the last five years of his life.
Arnold is survived by his son, Arnold (Mary Ann) Lieske, Jr. of Steamboat Springs, CO; one daughter, Marie Philman of Denver, CO; fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Robert (Dorothy) Lieske of Ripon; and three sisters, Frieda Hartwig of Ripon, Anita Bloch of Ripon and Violet Bushweiler of Neshkoro. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen in December 1994, his sister, Loretta and infant brother, Arthur.
Funeral service for Arnold Lieske will be Monday, April 30, 2001, at 11 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon with the Reverend Rebecca A. Johnston officiating. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Loper Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established in his name for Loper Cemetery.
