Arthur Art O. Schmuhl, age 85, of Markesan, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
Art was born on October 30, 1922, the son of Oscar and Helen (Bierman) Schmuhl. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1941. On December 2, 1950, Art married Marjorie Lange at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon. Together, the couple continued Arts life-long occupation of farming. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater where he was active on church council, as well as being the Sunday school treasurer, greeter, teller, and member of the mens Brotherhood organization. Art enjoyed playing dart ball for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with both his children and grandchildren while gathered at his house for food as well as catching-up on all their shared activities.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Marjorie; son, Gary (Kristina) Schmuhl of Middleton; daughter, Susan (David) Bruss of Markesan; grandchildren, Laura, Daniel, and Robin Schmuhl, and Rachel, Chad, and Benjamin Bruss. Also surviving are brothers, Franklin (Violet) Schmuhl of Fairwater and Harlan (Lois) Schmuhl of Brandon; sister-in-law, Delores Eckert of Markesan; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine; grandson, Kenneth; and brother-in-law, Erwin Eckert.
Visitation for Arthur O. Schmuhl will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and again from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater.
Funeral service for Arthur O. Schmuhl will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater with the Reverend Scott G. Ehle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater. A memorial has been established.
