Arthur Berndt

Mr. Arthur August Berndt, age 92, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, February 16, 1990, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
He was born April 18, 1897 in Ripon to Rudolph and Wilhelmina (Nickolai) Berndt. On June 9, 1936 he married Helen E. Klitzke in Ripon. Mr. Berndt was educated in Ripon Public Schools and Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. He was a farmer in the Ripon area.
Mr. Berndt was a Town of Ripon committeeman for Federal A.A.A. and A.S.C. farm programs from 198 to 1957. He was a Director of Ripon Mutual Fire Insurance Co. from 1959 to 1972 and a director of the Ripon Cooperative from 1950 to 1958 and president of Ripon Cooperative from 1959 to 1976. Mr. Berndt was a lifelong member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon and active in its organizations. He was also a member of the church and city Dartball Leagues.
Survivors include his wife; one nephew, Wallace Berndt of Menomonee Falls, WI and one niece Mrs. Lawrence (Barbara) Richardson of Cedarburg, WI.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 1990, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. The Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial has been established for the church.
