Arthur C. McKeith, age 87, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Ripon Medical Center.
Arthur Copeland McKeith was born in 1912 in Blair, Nebraska, the son of a Congregational Minister, Rev. George R. McKeith and Alice (Ward) McKeith. His parents had newly emigrated to this country from South Shields, England, having been called by the Congregational Church Conference. After moving many places, Arthur came to Ripon to attend and graduate from Ripon College with a B.S. degree. He was a member of the College Band and sang in Ripon College Choir. He worked as a Design Engineer at the then Speed Queen Corporation for 43 years and was the designer of the first Speed Queen automatic washer.
Arthur married Norma Nellis on August 21, 1937. One of Arts greatest passions was the familys summer home on Green Lake. He was considered by many to be one of the most renowned fishermen over a period of some forty years.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; A son, David (Mary Moore) McKeith, of Madison, WI, and their three daughters, Michelle, Janice, and Emma. A daughter; Diane (Dr. Gordon) Myrah, and their two daughters, Dawn and Amy of Brookings, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at 2:00 p.m., at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home of Ripon with Pastor David Busker officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Ripon College.
