Arthur Schalon

Arthur Albert Schalon, 89, of Wichita, KS, passed away on August 5, 2000, at Wasley Medical Center in Wichita.

Arthur was born on May 20, 1911, in St. Joseph, Michigan, the son of Fredrick and Ida (Klann) Schalon. He graduated from St. Joseph High School. Arthur married Louise Lutousky on July 30, 1938 in Watertown, WI. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, East Heights United Methodist Church of Wichita, KS and Ripon Kiwanis Club. Arthur owned and operated Arthur’s Men Store in Ripon. He lived in Ripon until 1993 when he moved to Wichita, KS.

Survivors include one son, Charles (Kristin) Schalon of Wichita, KS; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren all of Wichita, KS, one sister, Lillian Yircott, and three brothers, Eric, Fred and Edward. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Louise in 1992, one son, Robert Arthur in 1960, two sisters and four brothers.

A graveside funeral service for Arthur will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2000, at 10:00 am with Reverend Rebecca A. Johnston officiating at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 from 5 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Memorials may be given in his name to East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 East Douglas St. Wichita, KS 67218.
