Arthur Zierzow

August 11, 1915 — October 17, 2000

Arthur William Zierzow, Jr., age 85, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. He had bravely battled cancer for the last 6 months.

Art was born August 11, 1915, in Two Creeks, WI, one of four children of Arthur and Edith (Geerdts) Zierzow. He proudly served as a naval officer during World War II. He received his early schooling at Two Rivers, and obtained college degrees from both UW-Madison and Penn State University. Art taught History and Chemistry at Penn State. On May 2, 1955, he married Lucille M. Uhl at Two Creeks. During his years in Green Lake, Art taught Industrial Arts, History, and Chemistry at the high school until his retirement. He also served on the City Council and completed an unexpired term as Mayor. Over the years Art was part of the Green lake Rotary Club, the American Legion Post 306 and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

His loving wife, Lucille, faithful partner for 45 years, survives him. He was the proud father of five sons, Jim (Sue) Krueger of Green Lake, Arthur (Louise) Zierzow III of Connecticut, Charles (Dawn) Zierzow of Connecticut, John MacDowell of Washington, and Donald Krueger of California. Five granddaughters have added to his joy, Amy (Krueger) Kobs, Tracy (Krueger) Radenz, Virginia (Zierzow) Drap, Rachel (Zierzow) Jennings and Tabitha Zierzow. He is great-grandfather to three boys, Jackson and Samuel Radenz and Andrew Drap. He is also survived by two sisters, Elsie Matteck of Neenah, and Bernice jaehnig of Arizona and special friends, DuWayne and Phyllis Block. His third sister, Edna Jonas preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 21, 2000, at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, Green Lake with Pastor Rodney Dietsche officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A memorial has been established for Hospice Hope, PO Box 385, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.

Art was a man of great dignity and kindness. He enjoyed yard work and was a man who loved working with wood. He fashioned many beautiful things with his hands. He will be sadly missed by many.
