Artolena Boers

Mrs. Artolena Boers, died on April 1, 2002, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon at the age of 101.
She was born on December 3, 1900, the daughter of Ewald and Emily (Domke) Buetow at Big Twin Lake in Green Lake County. On November 26, 1919, she and Victor W. Boers were united in marriage at The First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI. They farmed north of the city on Locust Road until Victor died on August 18, 1949. After that Artolena was seasonally employed for twenty years, as an inspector, by the Green Giant Company.
Artolena is survived by one daughter, Dorothy (Carroll) Schattschneider of Green Lake; grandchildren, Doris LeViness of Portland, OR, Roger (Debra) Boers of Ripon, June (Robert) Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Victor Boers II of Pine Grove, PA, and Wanda Boers of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren, Victor LeViness, Cathy Yagler, Matthew, Cody, Jason and Jered Boers; great-great-granddaughter, Ariana LeViness; nieces, Adelaide Ahrens, Gloria (Thomas) Bella, Kathryn Benner, and Diane (Gerald) Zacharias; and nephew, David Buetow. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; twin sister, Leona Buetow Kimble; four brothers; four other sisters; two granddaughters; son-in-law, Lester Laboyeske; and son, Lawrence.
A family prayer service has been observed with the Reverend Margaret Richardson Zedan of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ where Artolena was a lifelong member. Graveside rites will be observed with the Reverend Margaret Richardson Zedan on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery.
