August Augie Frog DeForest Zebediah Smith, age 17, Ripon, died Tuesday, January 20, 1998, in Green Lake Co. as a result of a traffic accident.
He was born June 16, 1980, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Sidney Smith and Kathy (McCarthy) Smith. He received his education in Green Lake where he currently was a student and worked as an animal keeper at the Booth Hobby Farm in Green Lake. Augie was a member of 4-H and Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed football and basketball. He had been a member of the schooI band and appeared in a play that was directed by his sister, Danielle. Augie loved to hunt and enjoyed socializing with people of all ages. He was active in many groups and at school with Student Council as a class representative. His stereo equipment and his jeep which he shared with his sister Emily, were his pride and joy. He loved the outdoors and especially his home in the country. He was so devoted to his family. Augie had the love and respect of everyone that knew him. Our lives will be forever blessed for the time God had him in our care.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy A. Smith, father, Sid Smith; sisters, Danielle and Emily; grandmothers Dorothy Shikoski McCarthy half-brother, Paul Van Kauwenberg; uncles, Eddie (Karen) McCarthy, John (Deb) McCarthy, Jim McCarthy, Bob McCarthy; fraternal uncles, Thomas Smith, Dan (Shelly) Smith, Kim (Jill) Smith, David Smith, Michael Smith; aunts, Kathy (Ron) Beeding, Sandy Playman, Therese (Ron) Thomas; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith; special cousins, Willie and Andy McCarthy special friends Bill Sandberg and Bonnie and Beau Price; and many, many others. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gramps Edward McCarthy and great-grandmother Maude McCarthy.
Private Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 23, 1998, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Green Lake with Father John R. Dowd officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 1998, at the Green Lake High School from 1 until 2 PM, followed by a service at 2 PM at the school. lnterment will be in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake immediately following the school service. A Memorial has been established.
