Barbara J. Arnold, age 79, of Ripon, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Maple Crest Manor, Ripon.
Barbara was born on October 15, 1926, in Mendota, IL, the daughter of Nicholas and Josephine (Tower) Coss. She graduated from Mendota High School and upon graduation from Lake Forest College in Chicago, IL, Barbara moved to Ripon in 1948 to teach 7th grade English and was the student supervisor for the Tiger Yearbook. On September 24, 1949 she married Dr. John Jack Arnold at her family home in Mendota; they made their home in Ripon. Barb was involved in many volunteer organizations over the years including 10 years as a member of the Ripon School Board of Education, Ripon Medical Center Associate/Volunteer, Sunday School teacher, Deacon of the First Congregational Church, UCC of Ripon, Ripon Public School teachers aid, President and member of the Ripon Womans Club and Study Club, and Ripon Cerebral Palsy Center volunteer. Barb loved to read and play bridge, but most of all enjoyed attending her grandchildrens sporting events and activities.
Barbara is survived by her children, Geoff (Terri) Arnold of Ripon; Joan Karsten of Ripon and Jackie (Rory) Plagenz of Dalton; grandchildren, Shawn Karsten and Ben and Brad Arnold all of Ripon; Jessica (Brett) Hoekstra of Waupun, Julie Plagenz of Mansfield, OH, and Brittany Plagenz of Dalton. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Dr. John Jack Arnold.
Visitation for Barbara Arnold will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2006 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon and again on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 12:00-1:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, UCC, in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Barbara Arnold will be held on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, UCC in Ripon, with Reverend Jack W. Kraaz officiating. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. A Memorial has been established in Barbaras name for the Affinity Visiting Nurses/Hospice Services.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to both Maplecrest Manor Assisted Living and Affinity Visiting Nurses/Hospice and their staffs for all the love and support they gave Mom/Grandma during her illness and passing.
