Barbara J. Swanke, 58, of Ripon, was called home by her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday morning, February 12, 2002, with her loving children at her side after a short battle with can-cer.

Barbara was born on September 17, 1943, in Berlin, the daughter of Leo and Genevieve (Trochinski) Brotske. She was a graduate of Ripon High School, and worked at Admanco Inc. in Ripon. Barbara was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ripon.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl Swanke-Mann and Susan Swanke, both of Ripon; one son, Scott Swanke of Minnetonka, MN; mother, Genevieve Brotske of Ripon; five grand-children, Zachary & Bradley Swanke, Nicholas Mann, and Miranda & Marissa Swanke; sister, Mary (Jerry) Romlow-Buhrow; and nephew, Paul Romlow II of Madison. Also surviving is a special friend, Tom Rank of Ripon; many aunts, uncles and cousins, She was preceded in death by her father and nephew, Peter Romlow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Barbara J. Swanke on
Saturday, February 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ripon with Father John A. Schmitz officiat-ing. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established. She has touched many hearts, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
