Belle Van Doren, age 86, of Ripon, passed away in the arms of her family at Parkview Care Center on November 17, 2000.
She was born August 6, 1914, in Spokane, Wahington, the daughter of Jerome and Elsie (Moeck) Franklin. She spent her childhood in Eland, WI, and attended high school at Wittenberg.
She was united in marriage to Dale Van Doreri on January 19, 1938. For several years they toured the central states from Wisconsin and Michigan, to Texas and Mississippi with the Warney Ruhi Orchestra during the big band era.
After settling in Elkhorn, WI, Belle worked as a legal secretary and was State Secretary for C.E.S.A. She was an accomplished artist and won many awards for her paintings. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church UCC. She was a member of Ripon Womens Club and continued her love of painting.
She is survived by two daughters; Pamela (James A.) Walker of Ripon; and Lynne (Ronnie) Barfield of Key Largo, Florida. Also survived by four grandchildred; Kerry Jordan of Pensacola, Fl., Jennifer (John) Schafer of Oshkosh, WI., Kim (Bill) Vitkus of Janesville, WI., and Christopher (Cyndy) Wills of Rahway, N.J. Two great.grandsons; Juan Huerta and Zachary Olson; and one brother, 1-lervey S. Franklin of Texarkana, TX. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale, and two sisters, Joyce Nelson and Nola Jonas.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, UCC, Ripon, on Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Debora Hillgartner will officiate. lnurnment will be at a later date at Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood, WI. A memorial has been established.
