Benjamin W. Bishop, 90, of 619 Eureka St, Ripon, died Wednesday evening, January 14, 2004, at Ripon Medical Center.
He was born November 25, 1913, in Kingston, the son of William and Minna (Hollnagel) Bishop. He graduated from Markesan High School. Ben served his country
in the Army during WWII in the 183rd Signal Repair Company from 1942-1945. On July 24, 1948, he married Jane Nehls, and they made their home in Ripon where Ben worked as a lineman for the Wisconsin Power & Light Company, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon and the American Legion Post #43.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Ripon; 1 son, Brian Bishop of East Lansing, MI; 1 sister, Lottie Morse of Bay City, MI; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Mose officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment with graveside military honors will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be given to Mt Zion Lutheran Church in his name.
