Bernice Thompson

Bernice “Bernie” Thompson, died September 17, 2000, at Markesan Resident Home, Markesan, Wisconsin. She was born September 30, 1906, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Martin P. and Bessie (nee Reid) Johnson. She married Henry “Hank” Thompson on January 26, 1929, in Oak Park, IL. They moved to Florida in 1950, residing in Winter Haven for many years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Harley Tretow of Berlin, WI; granddaughter, Beth Cunningham of Libertyville, IL; grandson Chuck Tretow of Solomons, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Jim Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her husband.

Visitation will be in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Chapel one hour prior to the service conducted by Dr. John W. Alford at 2 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2000. In lieu of flowers a memorial is established for The First Christian Church. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Park. Assisting the family are Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, WI and Crisp-Coon Funeral Home in Winter Haven, FL.
