Bertha E. Smith, age 95, of Ripon, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 1992, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
She was born May 16, 1896, in Ripon, the daughter of Fred and Mary Thada Zinke. On December 26, 1917, she married William Smith. Bertha was a housewife and lived in the Ripon and Green Lake area most of her life. She was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon and of the American Legion Auxiliary in Green Lake.
Survivors include one son, Roger and his wife, Mildred of Green Lake; two grandchildren, Cheri Smith and her husband, Gordon and Ronald Smith and his wife, Paulette. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Rodney, Erica, Bryant and Jared; three sisters, Dora Volbrecht of Rosendale, Ella Kuehl of Sheboygan and Elsie Wetzel of Brandon and one brother, Eugene Nitzke of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Harold; one sister and two brothers.
Visitation for Bertha will be held on Saturday, February 15, 1992, from 10 – 11:00 am in the Chapel of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Funeral service for Bertha will be held on Saturday, February 15, 1992, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. Reverend James Mohr will officiate. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. A memorial has been established in her name.
