Mrs. Bertha Mathilda Augusta Thiel, 86, formerly of Hennie St., Ripon, died Thursday, December 21, 1989, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, Fort Atkinson. She had resided the last 7 years in Jefferson, WI with her son, Verlyn and his wife, Marjorie.
She was born June 29, 1903, in the Town of Metomen, to William Ernst and Ernstina Willamia Daumann Schure. On September 19, 1923, she married Walter Thiel. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Thiel was educated in Fairwater. She was a housewife and a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Survivors include one son, Verlyn (Marjorie) Thiel of Jefferson; one daughter, Mrs. Norbert (Lorna) Huebl of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thiel will be held Saturday at 3 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. The Reverend James D. Mohr will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.
Friends may call Saturday from 1 pm until the hour of services at the funeral home.
