Birdell A. Kohnke, age 79, of Willow Brook Apts., Ripon, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004.
Birdell was born May 8, 1924, in Budsin, WI, in Marquette County, a daughter of Carl and Linda (Wegenke) Krueger. She was educated in Budsin and married Henry Kohnke on August 4, 1945. She lived in Ripon most of her life, working first at the Grandview Hotel, Ripon and later at Ripon Advertisers for 24 years. She then was employed as a housekeeper at Ripon College before retirement. Birdell was a member of Grace Lutheran Church ELCA, Ripon.
Survivors include; A daughter, Nancy Kohnke of Ripon; Sister, Alice Floeter of West Allis, WI; Nephew, Gordon Floeter of West Allis; Nieces, Jernette (Lloyd) Krenz of Randolph, WI and Charlotte (David) Bastian of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Eleanor.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at Grace Lutheran Church ELCA, Ripon. Pastor Paul L. Holte will officiate. Interment will be at Garden of the Cross Cemetery, City of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon.
