Carl Diedrich

Carl W. Diedrich, age 90, of Ripon, passed away Thursday, October 8, 1992, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.

He was born October 25, 1901, in Ripon, to Herman and Bertha Diedrich. On August 10, 1929, he married Winifred Christensen of Berlin. She precede him in death on September 26, 1987.

Mr. Diedrich was educated in Ripon and attended Ripon High School and Ripon College. He was active locally as an insurance agent and land developer. He served 17 years as secretary for the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. He was the last living founder of The Foundation for American Principles and Traditions, which was instrumental in establishing The Republican Party. He served Ripon Rotary for over 55 years and was designated a Paul Harris fellow. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for over 55 years.

Some of his property developments include numerous Green Lake subdivisions; Indian Hills, Woodland Circle, Sunnyside, Skunk Hollow and Holiday Hills. Ripon subdivisions included Parkside Court, Skyline Circle and the Newbury Street extensions beyond Griswold Street. He also developed the south shore of Rush Lake.

He is survived by his son, John Diedrich and wife of Ripon; daughter, Carol Cooley and husband of Decatur, IL; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Harry; sister, Elsie and two sons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 1992, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. The Reverend Carl L. Stubenvoll will officiate and interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. Friends may call from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 1992 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Carl’s name for Ripon College.
