Carl L. Smith, age 84, formerly of Ripon, passed away on September 5, 1992, in St. Petersburg, FL.
He was born on November 14, 1907, in Ripon, the son of Albert and Amanda (Tabbert) Smith. He was educated in Ripon and was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. On October 24, 1937, he married Ruth Kahl. She preceded him in death on February 15, 1959. Carl had been employed as maintenance foreman at Speed Queen in Ripon for 39 years. He retired from the plan in 1968. Since that time he has lived in Florida.
Survivors include one son, Terry (Karen) Smith of Ripon; one daughter, Peggy Smith of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandsons, Jeff and Time Smith, both of California; one granddaughter, Carmen Smith of Ripon; and one brother, Roy (Doris) Smith of Ripon. His wife, three brothers, three sisters and his parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Thursday, at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. The Reverend Howard Ott will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Jeff Cole and the Reverend Jeff Evans. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon.
