Carl Stubenvoll

The Reverend Carl Luther Stubenvoll, age 80, of Ripon, passed away on Monday morning, February 16, 2004, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.

He was born on February 17, 1923, in Tilleda, WI, the son of Carl F. and Edith (Dikkers) Stubenvoll. Carl graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He married Helen Loots on September 6, 1945. Pastor Stubenvoll served congregations in Pepin and Alma for 6 years prior to moving to Ripon where he served at Grace Lutheran Church for 37 years. He retired in 1988, and continued serving as a Supply Pastor and then 7 years as a Visitation Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, Ripon Rotary Club, American Legion Brown-Parfitt Post #43 in Ripon, and was a Colonel in the Army National Guard and served as the State Staff Chaplin.

Survivors include his wife Helen of Ripon; 2 sons, Steve Stubenvoll of Wausaukee and Jon Stubenvoll of Portland, OR; daughter, Judy (Arnold) Strom of Sun Prairie; 2 grandchildren, Cynthia & Matthew; 1 sister, Eleanor (Don) Luehrson of Reedsburg; special friends, the Smith kids and their families; and other relatives, and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service for the Reverend Carl L. Stubenvoll will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul L. Holte officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon.
