Carla Berndt, age 56, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carla was born May 25, 1955, in Ripon, the daughter of Gordon and Dolores (Kohl) Hunger. She graduated from Ripon High School and attended U.W. Oshkosh for one year. On July 19, 1986, Carla married Steve Berndt. She and her husband owned and operated Bernie’s Italian Steak House and previous to that she was a legal secretary for 23 years. Carla was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. She enjoyed many outdoor activities, traveling, time with her grandson and spending time wining and dining with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Steve Berndt of Markesan, WI; two daughters, Jennifer Jackowski of Cottage Grove, WI and Jaclyn Jackowski of Princeton, WI; one grandson, Avery Jewett of Princeton, WI; mother, Dolores Hunger of Ripon, WI; one sister, Pam Stecker of Oshkosh, WI; one brother, Jeff (Lisa) Hunger of Berlin, WI; niece, Katie Stecker of Chicago, IL; aunts, Dorothy Kohl of Ripon, WI and Bernice Griffin of Palm Desert, CA; five cousins; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Ken) Kuehn of Oshkosh, WI and Yvonne (Daryl) Roesch of Marshfield, WI. Carla was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Hunger; aunts and uncles, Audrey and Doug Bauer, Hazel and Marvin Fox, Jack Griffin and Dick Kohl.
Visitation for Carla Berndt will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from
4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Monday, September 26, 2011, from 10 – 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church St. Fairwater, WI 53931.
Funeral Service for Carla Berndt will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. Reverend Scott G. Ehle will officiate. Interment will take place at Green Lake Center Cemetery, on County Rd. K, in the Town of Green Lake. A memorial is being established.
Carla will be missed by many loving, caring friends and family.
