Carlton Emil Wastrack, age 90, of Green Lake, WI, on Monday, March 2, 2015, by God’s grace was called home to his eternal rest, earned for him by the death and resurrection of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carlton was born in the family farmhouse on the corner of Highway 23 and Forest Ridge Road on April 11, 1924. His parents were Henry and Matilda (Schultz) Wastrack. Carlton was baptized and confirmed at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended grade school at Forest Ridge School and Peace Evangelical Lutheran School. In 1942, he graduated from Green Lake High School. On July 7, 1951, Carlton married Margaret Wuske. Church was a big part of Carlton’s life. He served on the church council a number of times. He was a member of the Fellowship League. For many years, Carlton played Dartball on the church team. He enjoyed being a lay delegate at WELS Synod convention.

After high school, Carlton worked for various farmers in the Green Lake and Ripon areas. He drove truck for the Brooklyn Creamery. Later, he drove milk truck for Bill Wuske. When Bill Wuske started his gas station, Carlton was his mechanic. He and Bill became partners in Wuske’s. With Bill’s retirement, Carlton became sole owner of Wuske’s Gas Station on Inlet Road. Many people remember the bear and deer he cared for on Inlet Road. Carlton was always a farmer at heart. Whenever he made a trip he always had to check out the crops.

While operating Wuske’s, Carlton often did special projects for people who lived along the lake shore. He would fix a variety of items besides their cars and lawn mowers.

In 1988, he sold the gas station. Margaret and Carlton had been active with the Senior Citizens in Green Lake. In retirement, Carlton had been a town supervisor for Brooklyn Township for some years. He and Margaret enjoyed bus trips to various states. Carlton and Margaret with their daughters built the family cabin near Park Falls. Carlton enjoyed deer hunting both up north and around Green Lake. While building the cabin, time was often spent in the afternoon fishing for ‘gills, perch and northerns.

Carlton is survived by his daughters, Judy of Wausau, WI and Donna of Green Lake, WI. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Norma Wastrack of North Fond du Lac, WI and brother-in-law, Daniel Boese of Ripon, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
