Caroline Briskie

Caroline Briskie, 95, of Ripon, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Michalene’s in Ripon, with her family at her side.

Caroline was born on March 14, 1914, in Ripon, the daughter of Anton and Ida (Pralat) Rivers. On September 19, 1933, Caroline married Alex Briskie at St. Wenceslaus Church. She moved to Ripon in 1956, and lived on a farm on Silver Creek Rd. Caroline made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved to sew and spend time playing and entertaining her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Catholic Knights, branch 58 Ripon, a life long member of Saint Catherine of Siena (St. Wenceslaus) and she belonged to the Altar Society.

Survivors include her two sons, Anthony Briskie of Ripon and Patrick (Chrisine) Briskie of Ripon; five daughters, Bernadette Krentz of Berlin, Madaline Gilbert of Ripon, Evelyn (Roger) Mlodzik of Milwaukee, Frances (Robert) Chmielewski of Milwaukee, and Thersa (Jeff) Duvan of River Falls; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren, Dennis Briskie and Marilyn Gilbert; one great-grandchild, Tyler Cummings; one brother, Alex; five sisters, Dorothy, Gertrude, Mildred, Lucy, and Jenny; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Briskie; two sons-in-law, Gordon Krentz and Eugene Gilbert.

Visitation for Caroline Briskie will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, from 4-7:30 p.m. with a Rosary being said at 7:30 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 415 E. Fond du Lac Street in Ripon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 415 E. Fond du Lac Street, Ripon, with the Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Midwest Div. 3311 S. Packerland Dr. DePere, WI 54115.

Caroline’s family would like to thank the staff of Michalene’s and Fond du Lac County Hospice for all their love and kindness given to her at Michalene’s.
