Catherine M. Nest

Catherine "Katie" M. Nest, age 89, of Rosendale, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon, with her family by her side.

Katie was born in Mt. Calvary, WI on September 7, 1934, daughter of Alois and Gertrude (Nett) Schneider. She attended Emerson School and Apple Grove School. On May 14, 1955, Katie married Donald “Donnie” Nest in Green Lake. He passed away in January, 2010. Katie was a proud farmer and homemaker, and cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing with Donnie, and visiting and playing cards with family and friends. Katie was a member of St. Mary’s of Springvale and St. Catherine’s of Siena.

Katie was a very "spicy" lady. She had an amazing ability to let you know exactly what was on her mind. She kept the aides at Maplecrest Manor on their toes and they loved her spunky side. 

Katie is survived by her siblings, George (Pat) Schneider, Mary Jane Salm, and Barb Mickelson; in-laws, Karen Schneider and Tom Putzer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Nest of 54 years; a daughter, Pamela Kay Nest; parents, Alois and Gertrude Schneider; in-laws, Carl and Viola Nest; siblings, Irene (Gene) Miller, Ferd Schneider, Vern (Joan) Schneider, Lil Putzer, and Robert (Cleora) Nett; brothers-in-law, Ron Moderow and Dan Mickelson; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Nest.

Visitation for Katie will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:30 until 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E. Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A memorial mass for Katie will be held at 10:30 am on April 6, 2024 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap officiating. You may view a livestream of the mass by visiting www.facebook.com/stcatherineripon. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Springvale, WI. A memorial is being established in her name. The family would like to thank the staff at Maplecrest Manor for all their support and care.
