Catherine V. Steele, age 92, 214 Houston Street, Ripon, WI passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Fountain View Care Center.
She was born May 6, 1914, in Fond du Lac, WI, a daughter to Joseph and Gertrude (Schumacher) Vogds. On March 30, 1940, Catherine married George F. Steele at St. Mary’s in Fond du Lac. She was a housewife, and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. Catherine enjoyed planting flowers around the house and attended mass every morning. She enjoyed a close relationship with the Clergy coming to her home for meals and talking about her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the social life of attending Military Balls in Ripon and her bowling league.
She is survived by her children: Sterling Steele of Ripon, Stephen (Yvonne) Steele, Eden Prairie, MN, and Gordon (Deb) Steele of Appleton; grandchildren, Matthew (Anne) Steele, Glenwood, IA, Adam Steele and Melissa Steele of Eden Prairie, MN, Joanna Steele currently studying in Spain, Andrew Steele and Sarah Steele, both of Appleton; and her sister, Delores Dooley, North Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Peggy Steele, and two brothers, Joseph and Ambrose.
VISITATION for Catherine V. Steele will be held Monday, May 22, 2006, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Blossom Street, Ripon.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL for Catherine V. Steele will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Blossom Street, Ripon, with Father Robert Fictum officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery in the City of Ripon. A memorial has been established to Diabetes Research.
