Charles "Chuck" Merlin

Charles “Chuck” E. Merlin, age 82, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home with family by his side.

Chuck was born on December 19, 1938 in Cudahy, WI, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Wolf) Merlin. After graduating from high school he went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army. In 1958 he married Roberta Samano, who passed away in 2018. Chuck was a machinist for Kearny & Trecker as well as Giddings & Lewis for many years. He was a proud and active member of AA, and had remained sober for over 40 years. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, and loved to watch hot air balloon shows in New Mexico.

Chuck is survived by four children, Ronald (Jill) Merlin of Hartford, WI, Richard (Laura) Merlin of Markesan, WI, Donna Boelens of Florida, and Raymond (Jen) Merlin of Kenosha, WI; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Donna) Merlin of South Milwaukee, WI; son-in-law, David Bugni; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eloise (Jim) Williamson; brother-in-law, Dennis Sharpe; as well as many nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Merlin; his wife, Roberta Merlin; a daughter, Deborah Bugni; a son, Roger Merlin; a sister, Jean Sharpe; two brothers, Paul and Jack Merlin; and in-laws, Jesse and Josephine Samano.

A celebration of life for Chuck will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Fernwood Campground in Markesan, WI. A memorial is being established in Chuck's name.
