Charles Lynn Degener, age 87, of Ripon, WI, and formerly of Markesan, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Charles was born March 11, 1932, the son of Arthur and Edna (Wilde) Degener. He graduated from Markesan High School and also Oshkosh Business School with an Associate degree in Accounting. Charles was employed by Green Lake County Highway Department for 24 years before retiring in 1990. He had a love for farming. Besides working for the county, Charles helped out on his brother Douglas farm while he was able. His favorite pastimes included bowling, playing cards, bingo and fishing. Charles was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church in Kingston, WI.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Doris Degener and Harriet Degener of Markesan, Lois Degener of Mequon and several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Durward, Douglas and Curtis Degener.
Per Charles wishes a private burial will take place at Phelps Cemetery, County Road H, Markesan, WI. Memorials may be directed to Kingston United Methodist Church, 206 E. Pearl St., Kingston, WI 53939.
