Charles Elmer Stracy, age 68 of Ripon, died Thursday morning, December 20, 2001, at his home under Hospice Care after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 8, 1933, in Ripon, a son to Elmer and Marie (Splittgerber) Stracy. He graduated from Ripon High School and worked at Ripon Foods. In June of 1953, he entered the U.S. Army and served until April of 1955. On July 11, 1953, he married Doris E. Bengston at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Upon returning home, Chuck worked again at Ripon Foods until 1965. He then went to Speed Queen from 1965 1970. He worked at R-Line Foods, later called JMS Specialties, from 1970 until retiring in 1993. Mr. Stracy was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Stracy; children, Kathie (Dan) Norton, Ronald (Roxanne) Stracy, Randy Stracy, Karen (Jim) Kotlowski, and Russell (Victoria) Stracy, all of Ripon and Karyl (Tom) VanGorder of Fond du Lac; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Don) Weiland of Colgate, WI; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Waters of Markesan and Doris M. Stracy of Ripon; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald.
Funeral service for Charles E. Stracy will be Saturday, December 22, 2001, at 3 pm at Our Saviours United Church of Christ with Reverend Rebecca A. Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 pm until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice and Our Saviours United Church of Christ.
