Charlotte Allen

March 4, 1915 — July 7, 2000

Charlotte T. Allen, of Marquette, died on July 7, 2000, at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah.

She was born on March 4, 1915, in Kittanning, PA, the daughter of Harry Austin and Margaret Dinsmoor Stewart Turner. She graduated from Kittanning High School in 1932. In 1936, she married Paul A. Allen also of Kittanning, PA who preceded her in death on November 16, 1999. The couple resided in Waupun for 30 years and was members of Trinity Episcopal Church. Charlotte served on the Altar Guild and Women’s Auxiliary for the Waupun Memorial Hospital. She often assisted in charity fund drives, was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of Eastern Star.

She and her husband compiled a sizable Civil War collection of letters, badges, weapons and other items and in 1988, donated a large portion to the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Some items are on permanent display at the G.A.R. Museum in Madison. Most importantly, she was an affectionate, caring mother and loving, supportive wife to her husband of 63 years, especially during his 41 years of private practice as an Osteopathic Physician.

Survivors include daughters, Marcia (James) Hanneman of Marquette, Paula (William) Ososki of Grass Valley, CA and Cynthia (Rodney) Henning of Oakfield; eight grandchildren and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am at St. Peter Episcopal Church in Ripon with Reverend John Paul Westin officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Marquette.
