Chester Felton

January 10, 1926 — March 28, 2004

Chester Carl Felton, age 78 of Ripon, passed on to eternal life on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Neenah to John and Annette Felton nee Zick, on January 10, 1926, the eldest of three children. He was a graduate of Neenah High School and attended North Central College. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and attained the rank of Sgt. He married JoAnn A. Davies (daughter of Nelson and Helen Davies) on August 13, 1949, in Green Bay. He was employed as an accountant with the Red Owl Stores of Green Bay, Connor Forest Industries of Laona, The American Baptist Assembly and Fabriko, Inc. of Green Lake, and retired in 1991. Following retirement, he served for 12 years as a volunteer with Wycliffe Bible Translators at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Chet was an active and dedicated member of his church throughout his life, and taught Precept Bible studies. He was a member of the Green Lake Lions Club, board member of the Ripon Community Credit Union, and a Cadet Girl Scout Leader in Green Bay. He loved gardening, camping, golf, fishing, bowling, and softball, as well as spending time with his family.

He is survived by JoAnn, his wife of 54 years; his daughters Victoria (Daniel) Krznarich of New London, Christina (Mark) Sabel of Ripon, and Deanna (Steve) Kunkel of Green Lake; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Nicholas, Amber, Amanda, and Andrea, and one great-grandchild, Madalyn. He is further survived by two brothers, Gilbert (Eileen) Felton of Northfield, MN, Willard (Nancy) Felton of Anchorage, AK; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Ripon with Pastor Marlin Mohrman and Pastor Gary Zacharias officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Inurnment with military honors will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Memorials may be given in his name to Hospice Home of Hope, 400 Cty Rd K, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
