Chris James Hollerup, age 70, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Ripon Medical Center.
Chris was born October 11, 1949, in Ripon, WI, the son of Svend Aage and Pearl Louise (Diekvoss) Hollerup. He was united in marriage to Nancy Schleicher on December 24, 1977. Chris was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife, Nancy, and a beloved father to Tym, Angela, and Cherise. He was a well-liked barber for over forty years at Svend’s barber shop and a valued part of the Ripon community. His loyal customers enjoyed his easy-going banter. He was a war veteran, serving in the US Navy, a fan of John Wayne, the Old West, baseball, and was fond of collecting many pieces of art, especially designs including strawberries. But most of all, Chris had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is grace! Christ is life! Christ is resurrection! Amen.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nancy Hollerup of Ripon, WI; two daughters, Angela (Ed) Cook of Saint Paul, MN and Cherise (Daniel) Ward of Spokane, WA and three grandchildren, Hannah, Emily and Heidi Ward all of Spokane, WA. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Svend and Pearl Hollerup; son, Tym Paul Hollerup; brother, Clair Svend Hollerup and sister, Sandra Hollerup.
A memorial service for Chris will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 11:00 am at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 777 Harvey St., Ripon, WI 54971 with Pastor Paul Ethington officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon with a Final Salute with Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Evangelical Free Church for their constant love and support of Chris.
