Christine Krueger

April 25, 1907 — April 17, 1996

Christine Elizabeth Krueger, aged 88, beloved daughter of Elizabeth and Theodore Krueger, sister of Florence, Carl, and T. Howard Krueger, sister-in-law of Grace and Ruth Krueger, aunt of Sharon Rafferty, and Kirsten, Betsy, and Jill Krueger, and friend to many, died April 17, 1996 after a long illness.

Christine was born in Ripon, Wisconsin on April 25, 1907, and lived her entire life there, mostly in the Newbury Street house where she was born. The untimely death of her father in 1917, hurried Christine and her sister Florence through school and into the business world to support their family. Christine spent a long and distinguished 50-year career with M&1 (Ripon State) Bank, retiring as Senior Auditor.

Although work was a central focus of her life, Christine had a keen interest in world travel, and donated much of her time to church and missionary work in Central America. During her life she travelled to the Holy Land, the African continent, the Far East, Europe, and throughout the entire western hemisphere. She avidly photographed her travels, as well as other events in her life, and her family.

Christine and her sister Florence were devoted members of Our Saviour’ UCC throughout their lives, including many years of volunteer Sunday school teaching, church outreach to Parkview residents and other shut-ins, and other church-related giving. Many a Parkview resident was a lucky recipient of Christine and Florence’s baking adventures, received as bingo prizes.

Most of all, Christine’s family was the blessed recipient of her love and generosity. She enabled her loved ones to live richer, fuller lives in many ways. She sewed Halloween costumes, chased Green Giant pea trucks, fished for bullheads in Mill Pond, rode her giant tricycle complete with “stow moving vehicle” sign, let her nieces golf club her peonies, attended pink squirrel parties, and kept Florence from eating too much fudge.

She is survived by a legacy of good works and a loving and grateful family, including brother, Carl; sister-in-law, Ruth; and nieces Sharon, Kirsten, Betsy, and Jill.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, 1996, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Our Saviour’ s United Church of Christ, Ripon with the Rev. James D. Mohr officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon.
