Clifford Bryden

August 3, 1919 — January 8, 2006

Clifford Bryden, age 86, of 511 Griswold St., Ripon, died Sunday morning, January 8, 2006, at Fountain View Care Center, Ripon after a short stay.

Clifford was born August 3, 1919, in Fairwater, the son of David and Agnes (Hins) Bryden. He graduated from Fox Lake High School. Clifford served our country in the Marine Corps from 1942-1945. He spent 3-1/2 years overseas, and was involved in the invasion of Bougainville, Guam and Guadalcanal, New Hebrides, New Caledonia, Pearl Harbour and New Zealand. After the war, he married Inez Alderden in Fox Lake on September 21, 1946.

He had been a Master Plumber in Ripon for 31 years, and had his own business “Bryden Plumbing & Heating.” He belonged to the Ripon American Legion and V.F.W. for 50 years, and in the Masons for 50 years, of which 2 years was Worshipful Master of the Ripon Lodge. Cliff was President of The East Central Contractors Plumbing & Heating for 2 years, 7 years County Supervisor for Fond du Lac County and member of the Parks and Development of Ripon. Cliff was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching Ripon High School athletics through the years. He especially enjoyed all of his sons, grandsons, and now great-grandsons many sports accomplishments. Cliff and his wife were also big Packer fans enjoying many games in their 35 years as season ticket holders.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; 4 sons, David (Judy), Tim (Brenda), Jeff (Susan) and Randy (Linda); 5 grandchildren, Chad, Kurt, Kevin, Kristin and Marisa; and 2 great-grandchildren, Payton and Sierra. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mona.

Funeral service for Clifford Bryden will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon with the Rev. Alan F. Schaffmeyer officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 3-6 p.m. Private family interment will be at Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established. The family would like to thank Tower View Villa in Rosendale for their concerns and the loving care given Cliff.
