On Saturday, July 25, 2009, the angels came and took Cynthia Sommers of Ripon, to meet her father and brothers in heaven. Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend fought a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Cindy was born on September 10, 1953, in Berlin, the daughter of Carl and Suzanne (Bednarak) Polakowski. She graduated from Berlin High School and on September 7, 1974, Cindy was united in marriage with Lynn Sommers. She found her soul mate and best friend when she met Lynn and they enjoyed 34 loving years together. Cindy was a manager of Book World in Ripon, and was also a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was devoted to her family and friends, and cherished every moment of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn of Ripon, WI; sons, Matthew (Karen) of Deforest, WI, Benjamin (friend Shirley and her children Luis, Charlie and Olivia) of Shakopee, MN; mother, Suzanne Polakowski of Berlin, WI; sister, Sandra (Jerry) Wenzel of Arizona; sister-in-law, Marjorie Polakowski of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Dennis (Betty) Sommers and their family and her dearly loved granddaughter, Stella Kate. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Polakowski; brothers, Timothy, Richard, and Ronald Polakowski; and mother-in-law, Verna Sommers.
Per Cindy’s wishes, private family services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. A memorial has been established in her name.
She had the love and support of an amazing group of friends. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you all for your care, concern and devotion to Cindy. She will be greatly missed.
