Dale Pankratz

Dale Pankratz, age 70, of Madison, WI (formerly of Berlin), died suddenly while vacationing in Door County on Tuesday night, September 6, 2011.
Dale was born July 31, 1941, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Charles and Christine (Zubel) Pankratz. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1959. Dale married Gale Towne August 3, 1963, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, WI. They spent the first two years of their marriage in Las Vegas, where they both worked for the Las Vegas school system. Upon returning to Ripon, Dale attended UW-Oshkosh and graduated in December of 1973. He taught for one year and worked for Condon Oil from 1975 until his retirement in 1998. Prior to moving to Madison, Dale lived in Berlin for 38 years and was a member of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin. He enjoyed traveling with the motor home, especially in the south. Dale was an active member of Heart Bound Greyhound Rescue and rescued and fostered many greyhounds over the past fifteen years. He loved watching college football and had a fondness for nature and the outdoors. Since moving to Madison, he enjoyed the many activities that his grandchildren were in.
Dale is survived by his wife, Gale of 48 years; two daughters, Lisa (Jonathan) Yackel of Madison, WI and Jill Niedfeldt of Oshkosh, WI; six grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sophia, Oliver and Henry Yackel of Madison and Laura and Madelyn Niedfeldt of Oshkosh; one brother, Charles (Ewa) Pankratz of DePere, WI; two nephews, Adam and Daniel Pankratz and a sister, Karen (Craig) Dillman of Pinehurst, NC. Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Dale Pankratz will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011, from 12 – 3:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St. Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Dale Pankratz will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011, at 3:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Mark R. West will officiate. Memorials may be given to Heart Bound Greyhound Adoption, 1875 Pinewood Trail, Suamico, WI 54173.
