Dale L. Prellwitz, a life-long resident of Rush Lake, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at Ripon Medical Center at the age of 58.
Dale was born in Ripon, WI, on May 14, 1945, the eldest son of Lester and Marnie Prellwitz. He attended Wayside School and was in the first class to graduate from Wayside in 1959. He was a 1963 graduate of Ripon High School, and also attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He spent most of his life in the auto industry, starting with working in the office at Van Metres. Dale then started and co-founded Able Wheels with Lee Baird, and later worked for Lancasters. Dale was then a long-time employee of the Gibson Company (currently Bergstrom) of the Fox Valley. Dale was currently employed as an office manager for NAPA Auto Parts of Ripon, Waupun, and West Bend. He was also the town clerk for the Town of Nepeuskun.
On June 29, 1985, he was united in marriage to Kathryn L. Welch at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon. Dale was a life-long member of Our Saviours, past church council President, charter member of Everybody Singers choir, taught Sunday School, and was a confirmand mentor.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn and son Marc, a freshman at Ripon High School. Dale is further survived by his mother, Marguerite Marnie Prellwitz of Ripon; and brothers, Lee of Ripon and Dwain (Thora) of Malta, Montana. He is further survived by his nephews and nieces: Kelsey and Parker Prellwitz of Malta, Montana, William Rogers of Georgia, and Thomas (Andrea), Martin, Stephen, and Andrea Welch and Jenny Vosseler of Oregon. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Rogers of Pennsylvania and Deborah (Mark) Vosseler of Oregon, and his father-in-law, Lawrence Welch of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Prellwitz in 1995; grandparents, mother-in-law; Jeanette Welch in 1988; and brother-in-law Paul Welch in 1995.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon with Reverend Mark R. West officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery, Town of Nepeuskun.
Memorials may be given in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
